Vreau sa cresc mare…
Asemenea unui copacel, Siluan trebuie ajutat sa creasca mare.
Hello,
When Siluan was born, on February 8, 2010 (8 lb 4 oz and 20.5 in), in Brasov, a small city in Romania, he seemed a perfectly healthy boy. But when he was just 10 days old, his legs were put into a cast because of the deformations of his feet. Few days later, being not even a month old, Siluan got sick with bronchiolitis and fever, and was admitted to the hospital where the doctors discovered that his liver was also very sick.
Because of his weak immune system, almost one month later he was still in the hospital with bronchitis, serious liver problems and on top of all these, he had a surgery to correct his hernia. All this time the parents were given lots of encouragements from the doctors at the Children’s Hospital in Brasov.
On May 10, the doctors had a diagnosis: NEONATAL HEPATITIS WITH CYTOMEGALOVIRUS. It took them almost 3 months from the first signs to find out his problems and to start treating him.
Encouraged by his doctors, even though he got weaker, the parents hopped that the antibiotic Siluan was given, will cure the virus and his liver, but few days later the doctors added a new diagnostic: BILIARY HYPOPLASIA. Even now, after the second diagnosis, the doctors at the Children’s Hospital in Brasov, kept telling the parents that little Siluan can be trated over there and they can handle his case. One month later, his blood work came back so bad and the doctors got really scared, realized that his health was so poor, and told the parents that Siluan has to go to Bucharest, to a better Clinic.
But because of the Romanian bureaucracy, it took exactly one month for Siluan to be admitted there. At Fundeni Clinic, the doctors were saying that from their point of view there’s no rush and they were planning to start treating him at the beginning of September, and it was July 19th. They even
mentioned the word… TRANSPLANT but nobody seemed to hurry up. Siluan was very weak, his skin color became yellow, his tummy was really swollen and he was practically dying in front of their eyes.
Desperately, they took him outside of Romania and 4 days later he was admitted to Salzburg Austria into a wonderful clinic (http://www.salk.at/. It only took one day for the doctors over there to do what was done in Romania in 5 months and the news shocked everybody. His liver can not be saved, his body is shutting down and he needs desperately a LIVER TRANSPLANT in the next 4-5 weeks.
Hooked up to machines and under 24/24 hrs supervision, he is waiting…. for money. According to the hospital’s policy, no surgery will be performed without money and an international medical insurance policy for the Romanian citizens to get this kind of medical care outside of Romania does not exist. The Romanian government won’t pay for the surgery… maybe sometime next year, they will be entitled to a small amount of money (1,000 Euros) to cover a little portion of the bill…and everybody seems to be waiting for… money. The estimated cost for the whole procedure is approximately 100,000 Euros, the equivalent of 130,000 USD.
George, the father is a priest, Simona is a stay at home mom. They are a modest family, who helped over the years many people, spiritually and financially as much as they could do. Please… I’m asking from all my heart to help this little angel to live. It’s not his fault that he is sick, he was born into a place were the technology is modest and the bureaucracy is huge…
All the Medical Documents you can find under “Diagnostic” page. We keep updating his site at News page.IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION, please feel free to ask, or even post a comment on the site and we will answer.
